• What is the surgery of dental implants?

The next day after the procedure or once the surgery has ended; the patient will be able to go to work. In some cases, doctors may recommend to eat soft foods at least during the first week. In cases where the patients are in pain after the procedure, it is important to notify to the doctor about this situation, the doctor will provide a special medication that will stop the pain until the mouth heals.

• Possible complications of surgery 

            It is important for the professional to consider that putting a dental implant implies having enough bone in the jaw in order to support it. When the patient does not count with appropriate amount of bone, the doctor may suggest having a procedure called bone augmentation. Bone augmentation is an affordable procedure, very common these days that implies a surgical intervention. If the doctor fails to do this, it will bring problems in the future to the patient, like discomfort or pain caused by the implant.
